Why is solar power so popular?

Solar power is becoming more and more popular as solar power cost drops and the price of fossil fuels goes up. Not to mention the need for renewable resources that don't kill the planet. In the future solar power will be one of the key renewable resources that help us sustain our future. The initial solar power cost is still a little high, but when you think about the natural resources solar power saves and the amount of pollution solar power prevents from being released into the atmosphere, solar power cost might not be that high. How much is the planet worth to you?
If the average homeowner in stalled a one kilowatt solar power system it would prevent 170 pounds of coal from being burned and 300 pounds of carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere every month. Now imagine if a thousand people installed a one kilowatt system, that would save a lot of coal from being burned and a lot carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere.
Solar power is an investment in more ways than one. If solar power is added to a home it definitely increases the homes value. Once the initial solar power cost is paid for the power that it creates is free for years to come no matter what the price of fossil fuels does. Solar power is also an investment in the environment. It helps keep the air that we breathe clean and reduces the amount of natural resources we use for power.
Solar power will help carry us into the future. One of the big oil companies predicts that 50% of our energy consumption will come from renewable resources like solar power by 2040. This will be a huge step in the right direction in so many ways.
So when you consider using solar power don't just think about solar power cost, think about the air that your children will breathe in the future. If thats not enough think about all the free power your home will create once your initial solar power cost is paid for.
